Do you have some items at home that are in need of repair? Would you like to know how to fix them? Or would you like to show other people how to fix their broken items?
The Eastside Repair Café Hobart will be at The BIG Weekend of Sustainable Living Ideas to help.
Repair Cafés are free meeting places and they’re all about repairing things (together). At a Repair Café you’ll find tools and materials to help you repair damaged items like clothes, furniture, electrical appliances, bicycles, crockery, appliances, toys, etc.
There are over 2,500 Repair Cafés worldwide and for the Big Weekend, two of Southern Tasmania's Repair Cafe's will be running a pop up repair session together Brighton Civic Centre. Eastside Repair Cafe is usually based at Warrane Mornington Neighbourhood Centre and Hobart Repair Cafe at Kickstart Arts.
Visitors can bring their broken items from home and learn how to repair them with a repair specialists. If you have nothing to repair, you can learn from or lend a hand with someone else’s repair job. For this event, bookings will be encouraged (closer to the event) but walk-ins on the afternoon are also welcome if there is repairer availability.
