WORLD CAFE EVENT
SLT's World Cafe

Come and share your ideas and experience, meet like-minded people and develop collaborative submissions on three important sustainability issues through a World Cafe session where everyone gets a chance to participate and make a difference. We will focus on developing submissions for the Tasmanian Climate Change Action Plan 2016-2021, the Healthy Tasmania, Five Year Strategic Plan and the City of Hobart's Waste Management Strategy 2015-2030. The World Cafe will be held here at SLT on Wed Feb 10th, 6-7:30pm. All are welcome, the more the merrier.

Delicious Tassievore
Tassievore Eat Local Challenge

It’s nearly time for our annual Tassievore Eat Local Challenge, a simple and delicious way to celebrate locally grown produce. Throughout the month of March you choose the level of challenge, whether it’s eating 100% Tasmanian for a day or a month, or just increasing the proportion of Tasmanian produce you buy. To help with your Tassie feasting, we’re planning a series of exciting challenges, so keep an eye on our website for more information. In the meantime, start sourcing local produce and check out our Local Food Store and Market Directory.

Volunteer opportunity
Mapping Tasmania's emissions pathway

Through the Paris Agreement, nearly 200 countries have agreed to try very hard to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5 °C above pre-industrial levels. We would love some help engaging the community to work out what Tasmania’s emissions pathway should be to ensure that Tasmania makes an equitable contribution to achieving this goal, and how we could achieve it. We hope to include the pathway in our submission to the Tasmanian Draft Climate Change Action Plan in late March, so please let us know via our online form if you can volunteer some time towards this worthwhile project.

Funding community projects
Community banking

Community banks share their profits locally, so provide a great way to help move your community towards sustainability. There are currently 11 community banks in Tasmania supported by Bendigo Bank, generating sufficient profit to provide funding and support for local projects. The South Hobart and Deloraine communities are in the process of establishing community banks in their areas and need your support. You can help these branches by pledging to buy shares, moving your banking to their branch number and spreading the word. Without community support these branches will not get off the ground, so show your support if you can. Check out their Facebook pages for more information - South Hobart and Deloraine.
