Hobart Workshop - Smarter Fleets - Electric Vehicle in Local Government

Dear Council Officers

With funding and support from the Tasmanian Government and Tasmanian Climate Change Office, Sustainable Living Tasmania is able to offer a select number of councils, a free, strategic analysis, of how, when and where the next generation of affordable electric vehicles, may be successfully integrated into your passenger vehicle fleet.

We will run a workshop in Hobart and in Launceston. The workshops will provide an opportunity to share information and incorporate your feedback to ensure we maximise the practical benefits to all councils from this Program.

Workshop details:

  • Launceston - Tuesday 31 July 2018, 1.00 - 4.00pm, at Windsor Community Precinct, West Tamar Council, 1 Windsor Drive, Riverside.
  • Hobart – Thursday 2 August 2018, 1.00 – 4.00pm at Sustainable Living Tasmania, 71 Murray St Hobart.

At the workshops we will hear from electric vehicle expert, Clive Attwater, about the new electric passenger vehicles that are due to be released over the next 18 months, which are so affordable that they may tip the balance and change the game. And fleet management expert Steven Puckering will discuss using electronic vehicle movement data to assess the best ways to include these vehicles in your fleets.

At the end of the Program participating councils will receive an individual report, with information and advice tailored to their council’s specific needs. The insights gained from the project will provide case study information that we will share with all Tasmanian councils when the project concludes in mid-2019.

Organisations and councils around Australia are seeing the benefits of including electric vehicles in their fleets. Early adopters of electric vehicles, Melbourne Water, found electric vehicles had more than double the fleet life cycle of combustion engines and saved about $2000-3000, per vehicle, per year. The age of electric vehicles may be very close indeed.

Please, RSVP to our workshop invitation, and help us develop the strategic information councils will need to help manage their fleets through some exciting times and into the future.
