I hope you have seen the Facebook posts and other publicity for the Big Weekend of Sustainable Living Ideas in the Brighton Civic Centre and the MONA Botanical Institute in Bridgewater on 25 - 26 March. Check out the SLT events on our website for more details.

Sandy Astill, our event coordinator is doing a wonderful job of pulling together an amazing array of workshops, stalls, forums and fun activities.

Now we are getting to the nitty gritty of organising the final details including the jobs that need to be done on the weekend. We really need your help. Please let us know if you can volunteer for a few hours (or a whole day!).

• we need people to meet and greet,
• to be the tech support in the lecture theatre and breakout rooms,
• to MC the talks and workshops,
• to talk to people at the SLT stall,
• to keep an eye on the program in the Botanical Institute,
• take care of the activities in the Civic Centre car park,
• and someone to be Matthew Evans offsider on Sunday while he does cooking demonstrations using an electric car and more!

I remember the very first sustainable living event we organised in 1999 called the Alternative Home Expo, in the Housing Ideas Centre carpark in Liverpool Street.  It has been through so many transformations, and had a whole tribe of people inspiring and helping. It is so satisfying for us to be getting back into engaging in the community and to share the event in a new location.

The second big thing is that SLT is supporting the Good Car Company’s 2023 electric vehicle Bulk Buy events in Tasmania, happening soon. Thank you to the folk who have put their hands up to volunteer at these events.

They are a wonderful way to showcase what is on offer, to talk with people who have bought EVs in earlier bulk buys, and go for a ride. Registering is good but you can just turn up on the day.
