Slacks, dresses, scarves, shoes, jewellery, baby clothes, hats…
If you can wear it, BUT DON’T – you should bring it along to the Festival Clothes Swap to trade it for something that you can’t wait to go out on the town in.
Bring your pre-loved clothing and accessories and swap them for someone else’s unwanted treasure. Please ensure that all items are in good repair and clean! Happening all weekend.
Australia is the second largest consumer of textiles, on the planet, behind the US. Synthetic fibres are petroleum based, and have now passed natural fibres as the dominant fibres going into landfill. As a planet we consume 80 billion items of clothing each year and while we kid ourselves about "recycling" our clothes, the reality is that there is way too much out there to be effectively re-used and about 80% of donated clothing ends up in landfill.
We are inspired to keep existing clothing in circulation through repair, re-imagining, reconstructing and a bit of creativity and fun. Our repair kitchen will have sewing machines, fabric scraps and yarn plus skilled people to assist you in mending your clothes! Onsite throughout the Festival Clothes Swap on Sunday.
