Paul is a pioneering architect of corporate reform with respect to ecological practices. His work includes founding successful, ecologically conscious businesses; consulting with heads of state and CEOs on economic development, industrial ecology, and environmental policy; and writing about the impacts of commerce on living systems.
At the luncheon, Paul will inspire us with his latest project, organisation, and book of the same title: Drawdown - The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed To Reverse Global Warming. It is based on meticulous research that maps, measures, models, and describes the most substantive solutions to global warming that already exist. It is the most important goal for humanity to undertake.
Paul Hawken's organisation did not make or devise the plan—they found the plan because it already exists. They gathered a qualified and diverse group of researchers from around the world to identify, research, and model the 100 most substantive, existing solutions to address climate change. What was uncovered is a path forward that can roll back global warming within thirty years. It shows that humanity has the means at hand. Nothing new needs to be invented. The solutions are in place and in action.
Todd is Sustainable Living Tasmania's Executive Officer, and has previously worked as an engineer in manufacturing, academic, and humanitarian sectors.
At the luncheon, Todd will share our emerging vision for Tasmania thriving as we play a leadership role in securing a stable global climate.
This vision is emerging from our Climate Solutions project, which aspires to identify, map out, and champion the most substantive solutions for Tasmania.
Todd will cover Tasmania's strengths, our current emissions profile, and some of the great opportunities within our grasp. He will also extend an invitation to all guests to engage with the Climate Solutions project to develop an inclusive vision and pragmatic plans to realise it.
