Use active transport

You don’t need to be an athlete, or even athletic, to get around on your own two feet. Switching your mode of transport to walking, biking or running can save money, carbon and often also time.

Aside from resulting in precisely zero carbon emissions, using active transport is an easy way of incorporating regular exercise into your daily routine. It also reduces stress, gets those good endorphins flowing, and you can make it a social activity by inviting your friends along. Plus, flying past those traffic jams on a bike is a truly satisfying feeling!

In Tasmania, we’re lucky that most of our towns and cities are small enough that we can walk, ride or run many of our trips. Covering these short distances in a car is an inefficient use of fuel, especially if the journey involves frequent stopping and starting.
