One of the first supporter hosted Living Local Feasts was held recently, by passionate forager and local foodie, Deb. Guests were treated to homemade cheeses; foraged cocktails; Acorn, spelt and herb bread; pine pollen and wattle seed crackers, wild pickled mushrooms; roadside foraged olives; backyard sultanas, and pick your own pine nuts....for entree!!
This was followed by an impressive mains spread featuring - Wild Rabbit with white wine and mustard; Grilled wild foraged mushrooms; Venison with birch bolete, pepper berry and caramelised onion; Roast vegetables with dandelion greens, spiced chickpeas and wild sumac.
Desert was Quince and walnut cake, poached quince, quince whey sorbet and clotted cream. I can't think of any better way to celebrate being a Tassievore and support the great work of SLT. Thanks Deb!!
Don't feel daunted by this amazing effort, there are so many ways to Host Your Own Living Local feast! It can be as simple as inviting friends around to enjoy some Tassie wines and cheeses or you could a potluck picnic in the park or make a group booking at a restaurant that focuses on seasonal local food.
